Our 2026 semi-annual team meeting in Guatapé, Colombia was more than a gathering — it was a deliberate step in our evolution beyond the “business broker” label, and the transactional reputation that comes with it, into the role of trusted advisor physician-owners turn to when their life’s work is on the line.
Because our team is spread across the country, these in-person meetings are where strategy gets sharper, relationships get deeper, and our shared commitment to the physicians we serve gets renewed. Over several days together, we worked through:
- Strategic initiatives and growth opportunities
- Operational and technology improvements
- Improving client experience
- Long-term vision and market positioning
We also went deep on CEPA (Certified Exit Planning Advisor) methodology and the broader frameworks that separate true advisors from transactional brokers. For us, that distinction is not academic — it is built into how we operate. We represent sellers exclusively, never buyers, so there is no conflict of interest at the table. We require a paid valuation before accepting any engagement, and we decline representation when an owner’s expectations and market reality don’t align. It is a standard most brokers won’t impose on themselves because it means turning away business. For us, it is the foundation of everything — and it is why the practices we bring to market are taken seriously by the most qualified buyers in the country. The difference, for the physicians, buyers, and healthcare entrepreneurs we serve, is the difference between a deal that closes and an outcome that protects a legacy.
Beyond the strategy sessions, these few days were about something equally important: deepening the culture behind the work. Twice a year, we rent a home together in a place that invites us to slow down — this time, on the lake in Guatapé. We cook meals side by side, take the boats out, tour the local coffee farm, and this year celebrated Cinco de Mayo with face painting, margaritas, and a lot of laughter. None of it is incidental to the company we are building. It is how a team that works apart the rest of the year becomes a close-knit one — and that closeness is what allows us to show up fully for our clients.
We are building a team that is building a company — one designed to guide physician-owners to clarity, confidence, and legacy-preserving outcomes. The team we keep building is defined by shared DNA: character, aligned values, drive, resourcefulness, openness, a collaborative spirit, and the hard-to-name “it factor” that makes a team great.
If you are a physician-owner thinking about what comes next, a referral partner with clients approaching a transition, or a talented professional drawn to this kind of work — we would welcome the conversation.
